Docker, Inc., the commercial entity behind the open source Docker project, today announced details for its first annual conference, DockerCon, taking place June 9-10 at The Westin Market Street in San Francisco. The two-day event will bring together the Docker ecosystem, including contributors, developers, hackers and partners to discuss Docker and container-centric approaches to application creation, deployment, and management, as well as the impact of these new technologies on the world of virtualization.

Keynote speakers at DockerCon will include John Engates (CTO at Rackspace), Brian Stevens (EVP and CTO at Red Hat), Gene Kim (DevOps Guru), Solomon Hykes (founder and CTO at Docker) and Ben Golub (CEO at Docker). Speakers from Spotify and RelateIQ will also be on hand to discuss their use of Docker. The event will also highlight a wide-range of in depth sessions, technical tracks, panel discussions and more.

“With the momentum and excitement surrounding Docker, we are thrilled to bring together industry experts, the Docker ecosystem and our partners for the first ever DockerCon,” said Ben Golub, CEO of Docker. “Hearing a variety of perspectives and insights on Docker, containerization and the current state of DevOps will be an inspiring and thought provoking experience, and we can’t wait to kick-off the first conference this June.”

In addition to keynotes, DockerCon will feature the following three tracks:

  • Docker University: educating attendees about using Docker, building Docker images and the Docker API
  • Docker for Developers: examining best practices for Docker, CI/CD, orchestration, registry, Docker-core and real-life uses cases
  • Docker for Ops and Sysadmins: introducing Docker performance, metrics, security, scaling and orchestration

Leading into the event, Docker will be hosting a 24-hour hackathon at the company’s headquarters in San Francisco on June 7 and 8. The hackathon is open to the first 100 applicants and is free to enter. Winners will receive one ticket to DockerCon and the opportunity to present a five minute lightning talk at the conference.
